Why become a member?

We provide hospital health services for more than 400,000 people in Huddersfield and Calderdale – so who better to get more involved in the Trust than the people we serve?

If you become a public member, you will have the chance to:

  • Find out more about your hospitals, the way they are run and the challenges they face
  • Help us work with local people to improve the care and experience of patients and their carers
  • Elect representatives to the Council of Governors
  • Stand for election to the Council of Governors

You will also receive our bi-annual Members' newsletter - Foundation News - containing news about developments and events at the Trust.

What will you have to do?

How much time you choose to give to being a public member really is up to you. You might just want to be kept up-to-date with developments at your local hospitals – alternatively you might be keen to help us work with the people of Calderdale and Huddersfield to find out what they need from the hospital Trust.

Who can become a public member?

Membership is free and is open to anyone aged over 16 who:

  • Is or has been a patient or carer at Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust
  • Lives within our defined membership area (see map)
