Halifax Art Society Donate to Macmillan Unit

 

Yesterday Janet Gledhill and Lynda Thomas of the Halifax Art society, presented staff on the Macmillan unit at Calderdale Royal hospital with a cheque for £161 raised through the sale of handmade cards.

 

Janet Gledhill secretary of the arts society said “The members of the society chose to support the Macmillan unit with this year’s fundraising efforts. It’s nice to sell a painting and know that it is helping the unit.”

 

Louise Taylor, Matron for the unit said “I’d like to thank the Art society for their kind donation. This donation allows us to buy the extra little things that patients really appreciate.” 

 

The majority of cards were sold at the society’s exhibition, held in the Piece Hall during the end of last year.
