The Trust recognises that patient and public involvement is about building relationships with people. This takes time, effort and commitment, as does sustaining them.
The challenge is to turn the theory of user involvement into practice which becomes central to the organisational culture and to the systems we operate.
It is essential that involvement of service users has real and measurable benefits, which directly improve the whole patient experience.
The Trust is committed to working in partnership with service users to influence service development and provision. Our aim is to have a consistent and fair approach to user involvement at all levels in everyday service planning, delivery and development. User involvement should:
- Improve the health care services that we provide through meaningful consultation and participation with the communities we serve.
- Recognise staff will continuously improve the service we provide.
- Add value to the service and directly improve the patient experience.
