What We Do

Oral and maxillofacial surgery is the medical specialty concerned with the diagnosis and treatment of diseases affecting the mouth, jaws, face and neck.

The range of conditions managed by oral and maxillofacial surgeons is vast and includes:

  • Treatment of Facial Injuries
  • Head and Neck Cancers
  • Salivary Gland Diseases
  • Facial Deformity
  • Facial Pain
  • Temporomandibular Joint Disorders (TMJ)
  • Impacted Teeth, Cysts and Tumours of the jaws as well other problems such as mouth ulcers and infections.

Treatment is provided under local anaesthesia with or without sedation (for minor surgery and diagnostic surgery), day case general anaesthesia and inpatient general anaesthesia (at Bradford Royal Infirmary).

We have a very high standard of clinical care in the unit and we are active in education and research. All of the consultants have published widely in scientific journals and text books.
