Convenience stores are located in the main entrance hall of each hospital and can provide you with anything from a snack to toiletries you might need for your stay.
Restaurants and cafés
There is a public restaurant and coffee shops/snack bars at Calderdale Royal Hospital and Huddersfield Royal Infirmary.
There are two League of Friends cafés at the Calderdale Royal in the Outpatients and Maternity departments.
At Huddersfield Royal Infirmary the League of Friends Tea-bar is located in the Orthopaedic Outpatients department.
Banking
There are cash points at both Calderdale Royal Hospital and Huddersfield Royal Infirmary near the main reception areas.
The Chaplaincy is there to provide everyone in the hospital, patients and staff, with the spiritual and religious requirements the wish. The Chaplains are always there if you want to share anything in confidence or even just a bit of company. You don’t have to be religious to see a Chaplain we are here to support you during your time in hospital.
Volunteers are on hand to take you to church on Sundays for a short ecumenical service at 10:30am, or we will come to your bedside to offer you communion or prayers if you wish. Please ask a nurse to contact us if necessary.
At the Calderdale Royal the Chapel is on the 1st Floor, and is open to all if you need a place of quiet and you will also have the opportunity to write a prayer request. Next door is a prayer room and a quiet room, which are both open 24 hours a day.
At the Huddersfield Royal Infirmary we have the Hope Centre, which is a Chapel, prayer room and quiet room. The centre is on the ground floor, near to the main entrance, and can be accessed 24 hours a day.
Hospital Radio
Hospital radio is a free service for patients at both hospitals
Calderdale Radio runs seven-days-a-week. To make a request call 01422 224 698.
Huddersfield Hospital Radio runs live programmes weekdays 7pm to 10pm and daytime at weekends from 10am, including live football commentary in the afternoon. To make a request call: 01484 429355 or through Patientline *800.
- Huddersfield Hospital Radio can be accessed free through channel one through Patientline.
- Radio Calderdale can be accessed free on channel ten.
Postal Service
Post is delivered and collected from all wards Monday to Friday. There is a post box in the main reception at the Calderdale Royal and the Huddersfield Royal Infirmary. Please give stamped letters for posting to the ward clerk or nurse if you are unable to post them yourself. If you expect to receive any post whilst in hospital, please ask your relatives or friends to include the name of the ward as well as your first name on all post to you.
