NHS National Staff Survey

The Department of Health’s annual survey of NHS organisations is now available for 2011.  The 2011 survey covered all occupational groups from doctors and nurses to clerical workers, and from radiographers to estate maintenance staff, across almost 135,000 NHS employees in 366 NHS organisations.

Key findings from the national survey show that the majority of NHS staff feel satisfied with the quality of care they provide to patients.  There have also been ongoing improvements in staff development and appraisal.

The trust was placed in the top performing 20% of acute trusts for job satisfaction, being supported by their manager, being able to access flexible working options and being able to contribute to improvements at work.

The trust’s director of personnel and development, Julie Hull, said “we are very pleased with our results this year as they have shown improvement over previous years.  We have worked hard, and will continue to do so, to ensure that our staff feel well supported at work and that they enjoy working for the trust.”

The trust also performed well compared to other acute trusts in staff receiving job-related training and staff recommending the trust as a good place to work or receive treatment.
