Visiting at CHFT

Last Updated: 20 March 2023

Please do not visit if you are feeling unwell or have respiratory symptoms. As well as severe cold, flu and COVID, other illnesses are circulating. If you have diarrhoea, vomiting or are generally feeling unwell please stay away until you've been well for 48 hours.  It's our priority to protect our vulnerable patients and our staff and we thank you for your support.

From Monday 20th March our visiting hours for main inpatient wards are 2pm to 8pm. This will allow morning ward rounds to be completed by our medical teams.

Carers can visit 24/7 - please talk to a member of staff on arrival so they can support you. Read more about Keep Carers caring on our dedicated page.

Visiting is subject to following our usual infection prevention and control rules.

  • We can only accommodate two visitors per patient at any one time.
    • On adult inpatient wards this can include one child under the age of 16 as long as their parent/guardian has consented. They must be accompanied by an adult and they are counted as part of the two visitors.
    • On paediatric wards, siblings can be accommodated between the hours of 12pm and 7pm. Please liaise with the Nurse in Charge so that we can avoid overcrowding at key periods
  • We may ask you to step out from time to time to support patient care.
  • Please DO NOT visit if you have a respiratory condition (cough, cold, flu, Covid) or diarrhoea and vomiting as we have very vulnerable patients in our hospitals
  • Virtual visiting continues to be an option
  • We ask all visitors coming into our hospitals and our health centres to wear a face mask in clinical and ward areas. Our priority remains as ever to continue to protect our patients, visitors and staff. If you are unable to wear a mask, alternate arrangements will be made.

This is a summary of our visiting guidance. Please read our full visiting guidance here
