Cardiac rehabilitation services

We are a multidisciplinary team of nurses, physiotherapist, occupational therapist, rehabilitation  assistants and clerical staff, based at Calderdale Royal Hospital, but working across both Calderdale and Huddersfield hospitals and in the community in Calderdale.

Huddersfield Community Cardiac Rehabilitation Service is provided by Locala Community Partnerships.

The qualified team members are specialised in caring for patients following a cardiac event, they have undertaken specialised training courses for the safe exercise of cardiac people in accordance with BACR (British Association of Cardiac Rehabilitation).

Cardiac rehabilitation aims to support people to improve their physical health and quality of life, also to equip and support people to develop the necessary skills to successfully manage their condition.

The team see patients both in hospital, at home and in clinics and offer a menu of outpatient programmes. Including gym based, aerobic, tai chi and chair based activities. Along with information sessions, covering healthy lifestyles and conditions at a variety of times throughout the week.

The programme also includes stress management, and we are in the process of developing a creative activity programme for the less physically active.
