Preparation for procedure
You will be required to fast for this procedure, you MUST NOT EAT OR DRINK FOR 6 HOURS PRIOR TO YOUR APPOINTMENT TIME. Failure to do this may result in cancellation on the day.
On admission the nurse will ask you a number of questions about your health to ensure you are able to go ahead with the procedure. It is important that you have a list of all your medications to hand to give to the nurse. If you are unsure about your medication, contact your GP practice and ask them to provide you with a list. You will be able to ask any questions you may have about the procedure.
If you are coming for assessment for bariatric surgery, you must stop any PPI medication ie lansoprazole, omeprazole and esomeprazole. Please contact us if you have any queries relating to this.
If you are coming for barrett surviellence or monitoring of ulcers then you must continue to take you PPI medication.
