The new buildings at Calderdale Royal Hospital include a new A&E block, ward block, and a car park. All will be of a very modern design yet will be created in materials which will continue the theme of blending with and enhancing what is already there and with the local townscape.
Both will be landmark designs with landscaped surrounding areas on site to offer the very best experience for our patients and visitors. All the new buildings will be the same scale as the existing buildings and, as the images show the colour of the materials has been specially selected to match the current hospital buildings.
The car park will be located at the front of the current hospital on Dryclough Lane, will co-exist alongside the existing established trees on the site and provide easy and direct access to the main building for both car users and pedestrians. Electric charging points will be available as we build in everything to promote sustainability for the future.
The new clinical building will have a screen of established trees alongside the roadside and easy access off Godfrey Road. It will be linked to the existing hospital building and the design also incorporates inner courtyard areas offering a light and airy inner core to the building.
