NHS community services in Calderdale, provided by Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust, have moved into a new home at Bowling Mill, Dean Clough, Halifax.
Since appointments started at Dean Clough at the end of April patients have given lots of positive feedback. This has included how they like the light, airy space and the unique features that have been retained as part of the heritage of the building. Patients have said that “the whole space doesn’t look or feel like a hospital” and like how it feels “modern, bright and spacious”.
Bowling Mill gives patients a purpose-built space for therapies, at the heart of the Halifax community. The refurbishment makes the most out of the original mill building features and natural light which can boost mood, and improve the wellbeing and experience of patients, and colleagues.
Jenny Clark, Director of Operations for Community Services at Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust, said: “Patients and clinical experts have been a key part of how we have designed the space at Dean Clough, therefore creating a fantastic environment for supporting their needs. We are now able to give our patients a better experience, and improve quality of care, closer to home in the community.”
Bowling Mill at Dean Clough is now home to the following community services in Calderdale, that have moved from Beechwood Medical Centre and Calderdale Royal Hospital.
- Amputee Outpatient Service
- Bladder and Bowel Outpatient Service
- Lymphoedema Outpatient Service
- Podiatry Outpatient clinics
- Outpatient Physiotherapy
- Community Therapies, Urgent Community Response (UCR), and District Nursing Hubs.
