Huge congratulations to Contract Management Apprentice, Neve Mellor, who won the Skills Development Future Leader Award at the Yorkshire and Humber Skills Development Network Conference and Awards recently.
Neve, who turns 21 next week, was nominated by Head of Procurement and Supplies, Cheryl Gibbons. Here's a snapshot of her nomination:
Neve was nominated in recognition of her professional approach to the work she does in the Contract Management and Social Value Team, as well as the wider Procurement Team. As an apprentice, she is relatively new to the organisation and contract management, where she is now starting to shine. She works in an extremely challenging environment covering many aspects in the team. She never complains, and sees this as an opportunity to learn in new areas of procurement, whilst still specialising in her own area.
Neve communicates with a range of stakeholders, from executives to suppliers. She will research the subjects where she thinks that there may be an impact on a contract, service or procurement, especially around social value due to the part this now plays in contracts.
She's highly motivated and extremely engaged in her work. She is continuously learning, whether that be for her Chartered Institute of Procurement (CIP) exams, which she is passing with flying colours, or where she feels she has gaps in her understanding.
The term “old head on young shoulders” is very fitting for Neve and she has become an important and valuable member of the team in a very short time. She has huge potential, and I am excited to see how she develops and progresses.
