The Urgent and Emergency Care (UEC) team at HRI recently welcomed colleagues from the Getting It Right First Time (GIRFT) programme as part of a national initiative to identify and share best practice across high-performing UEC services.

A small GIRFT review team visited HRI late last month to gain a first-hand understanding of the systems, processes and culture that are helping to deliver strong performance across urgent and emergency care services. During their visit, the team met with colleagues from across the patient pathway, reviewed operational processes and explored the innovative approaches being used to support patient flow, quality of care and operational performance.

The GIRFT team recognised the commitment, teamwork and continuous improvement demonstrated by colleagues.

As a result of the visit, a number of examples of good practice observed at HRI will now be featured in forthcoming GIRFT case studies. These case studies will be shared nationally to help other NHS organisations learn from successful approaches and support improvements in urgent and emergency care services across the country.

Director of Operations, Helen Rees, said: "This recognition is a testament to the hard work and dedication of teams across the Trust and highlights HRI's growing reputation as a leading example of excellence in urgent and emergency care. We look forward to continuing to share learning with partners across the NHS while building on our strong performance and commitment to delivering outstanding care for patients."
