Calderdale and Huddersfield Foundation Trust's latest Volunteer of the Month winner is Paediatrics and A&E Volunteer, Phil Hellawell.

Widening Participation and Volunteer Project Lead, Stevie Cheesman, nominated Phil and said: “Phil is fabulous at what he does in his volunteering role, supporting patients and staff and continuously going above and beyond to support other widening Trust functions. We truly appreciate everything that he does for our Trust.

“Life is not about being rich, being popular, being highly educated or being perfect. It’s about being real, being humble, being strong and being able to share ourselves and touch the lives of others through our own experiences.”

Phil said: “Thank you very much for giving me the award today, it means a lot. Thanks also for giving me a chance to work here, I needed a new start in life, and you gave me one.”

Phil recently featured in a BBC Look North feature about unsung heroes of the NHS. You can watch it here: BBC Look North - Unsung heroes - YouTube
