Macmillan Team up for a prestigious award

Macmillan Excellence Award

The Macmillan Information and Support Team, along with our Lead Cancer Nurse have been shortlisted for a prestigious, national Macmillan Professionals Excellence Award.

The team made up of Helen Jones, Mandy Davies and Holly Smith, along with Nicky Hill (Macmillan Prehabilitation Lead) and Christopher Button, CHFT’s Lead cancer Nurse are one of eight finalists in the “Whatever It Takes” category. It recognises the valuable contribution made by the team to respond creatively to the pandemic, offering crucial virtual support to cancer patients, from diagnosis through to end of life and for co-designing virtual education programmes with and for patients.

The team are already finalists in the Patient Experience Network National Awards (PENNA) alongside the Bereavement Support Service.

Helen Jones, who manages the service, said: "I am absolutely delighted for our team to have been shortlisted for this award, in addition to the PENNA awards.  I could not be prouder of everyone going above and beyond in the pandemic, finding creative and innovative ways to offer personalised support to cancer patients and their families. The shortlisting recognises the team's hard work and valuable contribution to the cancer pathway." The teams will find out if they’ve won on 2nd November.
