Mental Health Nurse Consultant, Ian Noonan shortlisted for Nurse of the Year

Congratulations to Ian who has been shortlisted in the prestigious Nursing Times Awards 2025 which shine a light on the brightest talent in the profession.

Ian Noonan, Mental Health Nurse Consultant at Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust, shortlisted for his outstanding work in leading a number of initiatives which have transformed the perception and understanding of mental health amongst his colleagues. His work has led to improved support and outcomes for children and young people, and adults, who live with serious mental illnesses.

 Consultant Nurse for Learning Disabilities, Amanda McKie, who nominated Ian for the award, said: “Ian is leading on our ambition to address parity of esteem for physical and mental health. He absolutely deserves to be recognised at this level as he consistently demonstrates a compassionate, trauma-informed, and person-centred approach, which includes our patients and colleagues.

“Ian has led to a significant improvement in our colleagues having greater confidence in working with people with a mental illness, and in leading conversations about a person’s mental health. Good luck Ian, you truly deserve this award!”

Ian Noonan said: “It is very exciting to be nominated for Nurse of the Year! I work with fantastic colleagues who are all so passionate about providing the best possible care to our patients who live with a mental illness. I am passionate about improving people’s understanding of mental health and how together, we deliver outstanding compassionate care to the communities we serve.”

The Nursing Times Awards 2025 will be held on Wednesday, 22 October in London. Best of luck Ian!
