Recently we shared how A&E Sister, Katie Allinson, had won our latest peer-to-peer Star Award for the support she showed a bereaved family.
While we can only have one Star Award winner every month, we'll be shining a monthly spotlight on some of our other amazing nominees to highlight the fantastic work and impact they make amongst their team, or with colleagues and the patients they interact with every day.
Step up Clinical Support Worker, Mohammed (Mo) Rakhman, who received a Star Award nomination from Director of Corporate Affairs, Vicky Pickles, after she noticed the compassionate way he worked and interacted with his patients and colleagues. Her nomination read:
"I was accompanying a patient to outpatients at Calderdale Royal and observed Mohammed's interactions with the patients in the waiting room. He was polite, professional, friendly. He took time to speak to all the patients, check on their welfare. He took personal responsibility to communicate any clinic over runs and the reason for them. Great examples not only of one culture of care but also doing the must dos.
“Mohammed also clearly had a good rapport with the other colleagues in the department from receptionists to medical staff. But it was his particular one culture of compassionate care manner and treatment of the patients that shone out.
"One of the patients commented that they had attended another clinic several weeks earlier and had the same experience of Mohammed. It was truly lovely to see someone who will come in to contact with a lot of patients, every day, living the trust values in the way he did."
