Our memories of Dr Kate Granger

Published on:

We send our sympathies to Dr Kate Granger’s family and colleagues throughout West Yorkshire hospitals today.

Kate was born at Huddersfield Royal Infirmary, and in 2014 hosted two sessions for our staff to promote her transformational and inspirational “Hello My Name Is…” campaign.

Once heard, never forgotten and her legacy will live on setting the bar for good communications throughout a patient’s care right from the very start.

Everyone here at CHFT is committed to it because a proper introduction, in a friendly way, really makes such a difference to our patients and their families.

Consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist, Martin de Bono, said: “Kate was inspiring. She had grit and determination to make a difference knowing that she had a small time-frame to do it all. All that and undergoing treatment at the same time.

"It was my pleasure and an honour to welcome her here to CHFT. I will never forget her and I am sure I speak for all my colleagues here as well.”
