Soft launch of CHFT’s new Accreditation Programme a success

Next March CHFT will launch a brand-new internal Accreditation Programme, designed to support continuous quality improvement across clinical services, and the soft launch across a few areas has been a resounding success.

Based on an established model developed by Manchester University Foundation Trust ,and adapted for CHFT following a Go See at Bradford Royal Infirmary, the programme will help teams demonstrate safe, effective and high-quality care while identifying opportunities for improvement.

Last week a group of colleagues visited Ward 18 at HRI to complete an initial accreditation on the ward.

Chief Nurse, Jo Hilton, pictured fourth from the right, said: “I was delighted to be involved in the visit with CHFT colleagues and Sonya Tetley, the Quality Improvement Lead at Bradford.

“We looked at medication safety, staff experience, observational look around at infection prevention and control, conversations around ward leadership and heard from our patients directly around their experience. I spoke with six patients as part of the visit.

“I'm really pleased to say that they described exceptional care. They all consistently spoke about the support that the team were providing with each of them, how compassionate they were and how members of the team had spotted real little things that they could see mattered to the patient and that had really made a difference for them.

“I just want to say thank you to the Quality Team and the Business Intelligence team who have worked incredibly hard to pull together the framework we'll be using.

The information collected at the visit is entered into a system that generates reports in real time. This means there isn’t burden of paper and handling of information that we need to do before we can actually see the results, showcasing what's going well and learning from what we can improve.

The full CHFT Accreditation Programme will be launched next March, but if you’d like to know more, please email CHFTAccreditationProgramme@cht.nhs.uk.
