The Care Quality Commission (CQC) has published its report for medical care services at Huddersfield Royal Infirmary, which has been rated Good overall.
This follows the Trust’s Good rating for Community services published yesterday, and its Good Well-led rating confirmed earlier this month, demonstrating consistent performance across key areas of care and leadership.
Four of the five key areas – effective, caring, responsive and well-led – were rated Good.
Inspectors highlighted the compassionate approach of staff, with patients describing care as respectful, kind and personalised, and recognised a positive culture of learning and teamwork across services.
The CQC found that the safe domain requires improvement and identified areas where further work is needed, including staffing, medicines management and consistency in record keeping.
The Trust has already taken action to address these issues and has clear plans in place to drive further improvement.
Rob Aitchison, Chief Executive of Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust, said: “We are pleased that this report recognises the dedication and compassion of our teams, and the quality of care they provide every day.
“Alongside our recent Community and Well-led ratings, this shows the strength of our services and the progress we are making as an organisation.
“We are clear on where we need to improve and have already taken action to strengthen safety, staffing and governance. We remain fully focused on continuing to improve our services.”
The CQC published its report for urgent and emergency care at HRI in May 2026.
