The Care Quality Commission (CQC) has published its latest inspection reports for outpatient services at Huddersfield Royal Infirmary and Calderdale Royal Hospital, with both services rated Good overall.
This follows the Trust’s recent Good ratings for Community services and Well-led, and the Good overall rating for medical care services at Huddersfield Royal Infirmary, demonstrating consistent performance across key areas of care and leadership.
At both hospitals, all five key areas – safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led – were rated Good for outpatient services.
Inspectors highlighted the compassionate approach of staff, with patients describing care as respectful, kind and personalised, alongside strong teamwork and a positive culture across services.
The reports also identified areas where further work is needed, including outpatient environments and equipment, clinic flow and waiting times, and ensuring staff have access to training and development.
The Trust has already taken action to address these issues and has clear plans in place to drive further improvement.
Rob Aitchison, Chief Executive of Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust, said: “We are pleased that these reports recognise the dedication and compassion of our teams, and the quality of care they provide every day.
“Alongside our recent Community, Well-led and medical care ratings, this shows the strength of our services and the progress we are making as an organisation.
“We are clear on where we need to improve and have already taken action to strengthen our environments, processes and patient experience. We remain fully focused on continuing to improve our services.”
The CQC published its report for urgent and emergency care at HRI in May 2026.
