Blood Tests
Certain medications can affect the way your body functions. When you start on treatment your Nurse Specialist will advise you of this and the rationale for the regular blood monitoring. We need to ensure that your treatment is not affecting your liver or kidneys and that you have the correct amount of red and white blood cells in your body. If you are on a stable dose of medication (and your nurse will advise you of this) the blood tests usually need to be done 3 monthly.
Unfortunately, if you have not had a blood test done for a while, we will not be able to repeat your prescription for your treatment. This is because we have strict guidelines to adhere to and your safety is paramount at all times.
