Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust reports positive progress in 2025 NHS Staff Survey

Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust (CHFT) has reported strong progress in the 2025 NHS Staff Survey, with results showing improvements across several key areas of staff experience and wellbeing.

A total of 3,365 colleagues took part, representing 51 percent of the Trust's workforce.

This year CHFT performed above the national average in several areas of the NHS People Promise. The Trust's Engagement score rose to 6.9, up from 6.8 in 2024, and its Morale score increased to 6.1, up from 6.0 last year. Both measures sit above the national average.

Jason Eddleston, Director of Workforce at CHFT thanked colleagues for taking part: “Thank you to every colleague who took the time to complete this year’s survey. Our results show real progress is being made, especially in how supported, trusted and connected people feel across the organisation. We know there is more to do, local action plans are in development and we are committed to working with colleagues to make the Trust an even better place to work.

“Your honesty and your contribution make a real difference, and we are appreciative of everything you do to deliver compassionate care for our patients and One Culture of Care for each other.”

While the results highlight improvements, the survey also identifies priority areas for further action in the year ahead. These include:

  • Addressing burnout and emotional exhaustion
  • Reducing experiences of discrimination, particularly from patients and the public
  • Improving the quality and value of appraisals

Divisions and corporate teams will now review their detailed results and develop targeted local actions. A Trust-wide improvement plan will also be published, setting out the steps CHFT will take in response to colleague feedback.
