Huge congratulations to Jess Midwood, who has recently had a double celebration after qualifying following her RN Degree Apprenticeship as well as getting married in Rhodes.

Jess (nee Pamment) has worked at CHFT since 2018 when she came to us an Apprentice HCA after completing her A-Levels at the age of 18.

Thanks to her manager Donna Cole, who has now retired, she successfully applied for a Trainee Nursing Associate post. Following that she took up a Nursing Associate role before starting her top-up which took 20 months.

Jess began her CHFT journey on Ward 17 at HRI, moving to ward 6 in 2020 where she’s stayed ever since.

She said: “I've seen a lot of change on Ward 6. From it being a Medical Elderly Ward, a Covid end-of-life ward and eventually frailty. It's given me such a wealth of experience.

“Coming to work as an apprentice was definitely been the best decision for me personally. Getting hands on experience and learning at the same time was ideal.

“I’ll probably take a break from my studies for a while now and have a bit of downtime with my husband Zak.

"I just wanted to add a huge thank you to my current manager Sarah Bray and the team on Ward 6 for their constant support and encouragement throughout my training since coming to the ward."

Medical Matron, Sarah added: "I am so proud of her as l can see how her confidence and knowledge have developed. I could see the potential in Jess when she was an apprentice. She is passionate about her role and is a strong advocate for her patients. I'm excited to see her develop in this role and become a nurse in charge."
