Preparation for procedure

You will be required to fast for this procedure, you MUST NOT EAT OR DRINK FOR 6 HOURS PRIOR TO YOUR APPOINTMENT TIME. Failure to do this may result in cancellation on the day.

On admission the nurse will ask you a number of questions about your health to ensure you are able to go ahead with the procedure. It is important that you have a list of all your medications to hand to  the nurse. If you are unsure about your medication, contact your GP practice and ask them to provide you with a list. You will be able to ask any questions you may have about the procedure.

If you are taking medication to ‘thin’ your blood e.g. Warfarin, Sinthrome, Phenindione, Clopidogrel, Ticagrelor, Rivaroxaban or Dabigatran you may need to stop this prior to your procedure. Please ensure you tell the nurse you are taking this medication. Please contact us if you have any concerns regarding this.
