Calderdale Royal Hospital

About Calderdale Royal Hospital (CRH)

Calderdale Royal Hospital (CRH) is a modern centre of excellence which first opened its doors to patients in April 2001. Situated about 1.5 miles south of Halifax town centre the hospital offers a full range of day case and outpatient services and an accident and emergency department. It is also the specialist centre for planned orthopaedic and general surgery (when patients need to stay at least one night) for the residents of Calderdale and Kirklees and further afield.

The hospital is also the local centre for consultant-led maternity care, inpatient paediatric (children’s) services and neonatal care. Calderdale Royal Hospital was one of the country’s first PFI hospitals and opened its doors to patients in April 2001. It was officially opened by the Princess Royal on March 15, 2004.

The hospital was built by the Catalyst Healthcare consortium, which then comprised the Lend Lease Corporation, Bovis Lend Lease Limited, ISS Mediclean Limited, the British Linen Bank Limited and the French bank Societe Generale. Bovis Lend Lease provided the design and construction services. Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust is responsible for the provision of all clinical services.

Vita Lend Lease provides the estates and maintenance services. ISS Mediclean is responsible for non-clinical services including cleaning, catering, laundry and linen, car parking, security, switchboard services and portering.
