Calderdale Community Equipment Loan Store

The Calderdale Community Equipment Loan Store is a partnership between Calderdale Council and the NHS in Calderdale.

This service is available to provide you and your family with a wide range of equipment to help you live more independently in your own home.

What equipment do we offer?

Equipment to help with:

·         Bathing, showering and toileting

·         Moving, handling and walking

·         Household and kitchen tasks

·         Nursing tasks

All our equipment is clean and maintained to the highest standards.  All returned equipment is recycled after a deep clean.

What do I do if I need equipment to support me?

If you are at home, you can call Calderdale’s Gateway to Care team (see below) who will be able to help you.   Alternatively you can get in touch with your District Nurse through your doctor's surgery and discuss your needs.

If you are in hospital, your Occupational Therapist will discuss your needs with you and agree on the equipment that will be suitable.

Do I need to pay for equipment I borrow from the Loan Store?

All equipment in the Loan Store is loaned to you free of charge.

If you prefer, you can purchase your own equipment from outlets such as Amazon or Age UK Shopmobility https://www.ageuk.org.uk/calderdaleandkirklees/our-services/shopmobility/

What do I do if the equipment is no longer required?

If the equipment we provide is no longer needed by you or the person you care for, arrangements can be made to have it collected.  Items should be returned in a good state of repair if no longer needed.

Please contact the Loan Store reception (see below) for help and advice.

What do I do if the equipment is broken?

Please contact the Loan Store reception as soon as possible.

If it is a simple breakdown, the team will usually be able to carry out repairs or maintenance to the equipment in your own home.  In some circumstances this may not be possible and the equipment will have to be returned to our stores.  In this case the equipment will be replaced or other alternatives discussed with you.

We will try and ensure the minimum disruption to you and your family.
