Bedside entertainment and communications systems

Mobile phones

Mobile phones can be used on public corridors, but they must be switched off in clinical areas as they can interfere with medical equipment. Mobile phones are considered “in use” whenever they are switched on, since they transmit at regular intervals – so please remember to switch your phone off when in the ward. When using a mobile phone in any area, please be sensitive to other patients around you.

Payphones

There are several payphones positioned in the main corridors around the hospital. These accept all coins. Ask any member of staff to direct you to the nearest one to your ward.

Bedside Televisions and Radios

Televisions with headsets have been installed by most bedsides and the system is free of charge to patients at the moment at Calderdale Royal Hospital. There is a charge at Huddersfield Royal Infirmary.
