Cancer Information and Support Service **DRAFT**

Working in partnership with Macmillan, the Cancer Information and Support Service aims to provide equal access to good quality information and a range of services that provide holistic support to any patient with cancer, along with their relatives and carers in a safe and welcoming environment.
The Cancer Information and Support Centres provide a confidential, drop-in service for anyone affected by cancer. If you would rather make an appointment, please don’t hesitate to contact us to arrange this.
We are open Monday to Friday, 9:30am – 4pm
What you can expect when you visit our centres
- Literature on all aspects of living with cancer
- The opportunity to discuss treatments, side effects and other cancer related issues
- Access to a private room where you can talk to someone in confidence
- Holistic Needs Assessments (a conversation about what matters the most to you)
- Information and support over the phone for those unable to access the service in person
- Easy read booklets
Ways in which you may be supported by our team
- Financial support including access to benefits and pension advice
- Practical support such as accessing Blue Badges and home adaptations
- Housing support
- Access to our very own support groups, and details of others within the area
- Look Good Feel Better pampering workshop
- Macmillan free will writing service
- Signposting to support for children and young people within the family
- Connect you with Macmillan buddies
- Community socials
- Referrals to other available support services
