Meet the Team

Nicola Greaves - Manager

Hello, my name is Nicola Greaves and I am proud to be the Manager of The Cancer Information Service here at Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust.

I joined the team in 2023, previously working in Quality and Patient Experience within the NHS for over 20 years.

I am privileged to have a great team, which includes our volunteers, who work together to deliver the very best in information, support and guidance to patients, carers and healthcare professionals.

Since joining the service, we have worked hard to make sure the resources and information we provide meet the needs of those who are accessing our service.  We have listened and responded to feedback and made some positive changes which include:

  • Growing our support groups which we are please to say now include Look Good Feel Better
  • We have introduced socials for those affected by cancer to meet other patients and carers who understand the reality of living with and beyond cancer
  • We have moved away from delivering our courses predominantly online to face to face
  • We are seeing more patients than ever on our hospital wards which has proven to improve the hospital discharge process and provided comforting and informative to patients and their loved ones.

I have personal experience of being a carer for someone living with cancer following my Mum’s own diagnosis. These experiences help influence and shape my vision for delivering compassionate care for everyone we support.

Mandy Davies - Assistant Manager

Hello My name is Mandy Davies, most of my career has  been in the healthcare sector. I have been a Dental Nurse since I was 16 years old and worked in various fields of dentistry, from general practice to the  Maxillofacial Unit. I have been in my current role as the Assistant Manager of the Cancer  Information and  Support Service since 2017.

Most recently I was honored to be nominated and was successful in winning a CHFT award for putting people first.  I feel humbled and privileged to be able to provide support at one of the most difficult points of peoples lives working alongside my colleagues within the Cancer Information and Support Service  and the wider cancer team.

When I am not working I enjoy spending time with my family & friends. Walking the dog and going to music concerts.

Kate Stott - Support Worker

Hello, My name is Kate.

I have worked for the NHS since 2009 when I started working as a healthcare assistant supporting and caring for patients on the wards.

I have worked specifically within cancer services for the past 11 years, This consisting of working within a hospice and then moving on to work within the Lung Cancer Specialist nursing team. I am currently working within the Cancer Information Service at CHFT, I have been in this role since January 2023

Gracie William - Support Worker

Hello, my name is Gracie Williams, I am currently on a secondment with the Cancer Information Service as a Support Worker. I have worked in Oncology for over 3 years, initially starting as a Clinical Apprentice. I then qualified as a Healthcare Assistant working on the Greenlea Unit at Huddersfield Royal Infirmary.

To be able to provide a listening ear and give support and information to patients in a non-clinical environment is something I am really passionate about. I feel it is a huge privilege to be able to make a difference to people at a time when they need it the most.

On a personal level I have lived experience supporting family members through their own diagnosis and treatment.

It feels so rewarding to be a part of such an amazing team. Nicola, Mandy and Kate and all our lovely Volunteers go above and beyond in supporting patients and their loved ones. Every day is different, and some are more challenging than others, but I am always learning and feel I have been given a great opportunity to develop my skills whilst making a difference.
