Hysteroscopy

What is an outpatient hysteroscopy?

A hysteroscopy is the investigation to look inside the womb using a very narrow telescope (hysteroscope); it is a common procedure performed in the gynaecology department.

We advise that you take non-steroidal anti-inflammatory painkillers 45 minutes before your appointment to help with any mild discomfort you may have during the investigation.

Please click here for a leaflet on outpatient hysteroscopy which has additional information on hysteroscopy.
