The childrens epilepsy services

The Children’s Epilepsy team provides care and support to Children & Young People who have a  diagnosis of epilepsy, and their families, living mainly but not exclusively within Calderdale & Greater  Huddersfield. 

The Epilepsy team is currently staffed by two Consultant Pediatricians, and one Associate Specialist,  who all have expertise in childhood epilepsy. 

The team also includes one full time and one part time Specialist Epilepsy Nurses, who provide  advisory, educational and outreach support in the community setting. The Epilepsy Nursing team  also provide a telephone advice service Mon-Fri 8am – 4pm and an answer machine facility is  available, where messages can be left for the Nursing team out of hours.

Specialist Epilepsy clinics involving all the team, are held on alternate weeks at Calderdale Royal Hospital & Huddersfield Royal Infirmary (Acre Mill). 

The Service aims to deliver and meet NICE Guidance and Best Practice Tariff standards for the care  and management of children and young people with a diagnosis of epilepsy or probable epilepsy.
