Our team are based at Calderdale Royal Hospital and offer a specialised and patient centred approach to the diagnosis treatment and management of chronic pain for people over 18 years.
Our team includes experienced consultants and specialist nurses supported by experienced nurses and admin team.
Chronic pain is a pain that persists longer than 3 months and can affect many aspects of a patients’ life, such as relationships, mood, sleep, daily activities, recreation and employment.
Your GP or consultant will need to refer you to our department as we do not accept self-referrals.
We endeavour to work with the patient to formulate a multifaceted management plan including up-to-date treatments, to help them to manage and live with their pain to allow them to improve their function.
We provide Pain Management services for a wide variety of conditions including;
- Chronic back pain
- Neuropathic pain
- Chronic regional pain syndrome (CRPS)
- Chronic pelvic and abdominal pain
- Malignant pain alongside palliative care and oncology services
You will be reviewed by one of our experienced consultants who will formulate a management plan best suited for you, the patient. We offer Self-help guidance and support to all our patients and offer other services and treatments tailored to you and your type of pain
Our services and treatments include;
- Pain medications management, including opiate advice
- Pain management injections such as spinal injections and nerve blocks
- Lidocaine infusions
- Capsaicin plasters
Unfortunately, we are no longer able to offer acupuncture
